7 Ways To Stay Happy At Work

Does work leave you feeling stressed, worried or upset? You’re not alone! It has been reported that half of all employees now feel unhappy in the workplace.

Happiness at work is not only vital for productivity but also for our own mental well-being. Despite what you may think, it is possible to be professional, successful and HAPPY at work. Check out our seven tips to find out how!

1. Get a good night’s sleep

Sleep is not something that should be neglected, as a lack of sleep can cause a lot of harm to your body. It can contribute towards serious health issues like obesity and heart disease and can also leave you feeling groggy, sluggish and inevitably unhappy. Health professionals recommend getting between seven to eight hours of sleep a night to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

2. Prepare for the day ahead

Organisation is the key to success. Sick of skipping breakfast, dashing out of the door every morning and rushing to work? If there’s a colleague who’s always making negative comments in the office, ask to move to a new seat – or invest in a pair of good earphones!

4. Reward Yourself

It’s important to indulge and express some gratitude to yourself from time to time. Made that deadline? Treat yourself to something that you love. Having a particularly tough day? Treat yourself to some chocolate at lunch. You deserve it!

5. Eat Healthily

It is well known that what you eat affects your mood. Eating healthily will contribute towards a healthy body, as well as a healthy mind. Skipping meals and eating too much fatty or sugary food will cause your body to crash, leaving you feeling tired, sluggish or unhappy.

Incorporate plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables into your packed lunch and see what effect it has on your mood. Did you know that vitamin D can help to uplift your mood and make you feel happier? Go on, try it and see how you feel.

6. Try Meditating

Meditation has been proven to relieve stress and promote general mental well-being. Incorporating just ten minutes of meditation and mindfulness into your daily routine can have a great, long lasting impact on your personal happiness. If you’ve having a particularly tough day at the office, try taking just a couple of minutes in the bathroom to gather your thoughts and take a few deep breaths.

7. Try Exercising Regularly

Making sure that you exercise regularly is vital to a happy, healthy lifestyle and the benefits are endless. As well as helping the prevent any illness’ and strengthening your body and heart, it can be beneficial to you overall happiness. It has been proven that people who work out for thirty to sixty minutes, three to five days a week, feel more productive in the workplace. There is an exercise or sport to suit everyone, so give it a try and see what works best for you!
